SITE INFORMATION — ABOUT LYNN BEAN ABOUT LYNN BEAN
Lynn was raised in Battle Creek Michigan. She is a graduate of the illustration Department of Kendal School of Design in Grand Rapids, and began her career in retail fashion illustration in Flint, Michigan and San Francisco. She moved to Prineville in Oregon's Ochoco Mountains in 1979, where life on a remote ranch inspired her to capture the rare moments and detailed beauty of wild birds and animals. Early subjects included her own ranch animals ¾ "Sugar", a Guernsey cow who ruled the other livestock; flamboyant "Chicken George"; "Brooster" the rooster, "Miss Mellow," her first horse; "Jasper" the cat ¾ or wild animals of the Ochoco region. Lynn's early watercolor and ink details soon found their way to international publisher, Gemé Art, Incorporated, which reproduced many fine offset lithographs of her work from 1982 to 1996. These are available on her web site. She now publishes her own Giclée prints with ProShot Imaging. Her late artwork combines hand tooled copper, feathers, leather, horsehair, and beadwork, to produce interesting 3-D effects in watercolor and dimensional work. Recent media include acrylics on canvas and hand tooled enameled copper, dedicated to Wildlife, Equine, and Native American composites. Involvement with the www.trailofpaintedponies.com has brought her to dimensional art, with the horse figurine as a canvas. Replicas of her first Trail original, "Fetish Pony," were released in spring 2005. Her next Trail original, "Copper Enchantment," was a finalist for the Native Art of Horse Painting in 2006. A third figurine, "Gingerbread Pony," is to be released for the 2007 Christmas Season. Her latest Trail piece, "Bunk House Bronco," is a top ten finalist for the 2007 America The Beautiful Contest. The winning entry will be announced at the Lexington Kentucky Horse Park in July 2007. "Bunk House Bronco" won the President's Choice finalists' award. Lynn's many paintings and drawings are featured in national exhibits, galleries, gift shops, and well-known periodicals such as Horses in Art Magazine. Recent work may be seen at her co-owned Gilbert District Gallery in Seaside, Oregon, at The Kestrel Winery in Prosser, Washington, at The Birdnest Galley in Gig Harbor, Washington, at the Lynn Bean Summer Gallery in Sumpter, Oregon, or at many juried art shows throughout western North America. Lynn also maintains one of the largest online galleries at www.lynnbean.com.
